Thanksgiving Day Is Not A Holy Day

It is a fact that people seldom question the lifestyle into which they were born and raised. This becomes especially true with regard to the holidays that the world observes. Since most religious organizations conduct a service of some kind on that day, many people tend to believe that its observance can be supported from the Bible. However, the true followers of the Savior of mankind Yahshua will be sincerely interested to learn the facts regarding the observance of every worldly holiday, so that they can regulate their life to be in harmony and obedience to Almighty Yahweh’s commandments. Today, we are going to teach you the real truth about Thanksgiving day. As always, we ask the Holy Spirit of Yahweh for wisdom as we discuss to you that Thanksgiving day is not a Holy Day that our Father in heaven want us to support and celebrate. This is one very vital truth and real faithful message that you do not really want to miss out on.

Those who really know the Bible recognize that Almighty Yahweh has legislated the observance of His Feast of Tabernacles. Yahweh commands that a festival of seven days, with an additional eighth day called the Last Great Day, should be set aside to thank and praise Him for His abundant blessings (Leviticus 23:33-44). The Father in heaven Yahweh has sanctified that time period for worship. Mankind cannot arbitrarily change Yahweh’s commandments. Few people in the world understand very much about the observance of the holy days of Leviticus 23. Many will observe worldly holidays unquestioningly, rather than the sanctified holy days the Most High Yahweh has specified in His holy Word (Bible) for true worship and celebration. Such a paradox is quite shocking! Why not observe the sacred seasons that Almighty Yahweh has legislated in His Word, the Bible? Why observe any holidays for which there is absolutely no biblical support? Thanksgiving day, as a holy day, is never mentioned in the Holy Scriptures!

Yes, the Bible’s King David wrote, “Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms” (Psalm 95:2). “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name” (Psalm 100:4). And, “O give thanks unto Yahweh, for He is good: for His mercy endures forever…Oh that men would praise Yahweh for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalms 107:1; 8-9). The apostle Paul wrote, “Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto Yahweh” (Philippians 4:6). He also said, “Giving thanks always for all things unto Elohim the Father in the name of Yahshua Messiah” (Ephesians 5:20). These great servants of Yahweh gave thanks, and recorded their examples for us to follow today. Thanksgiving should be done regularly. In fact, Yahweh even commands that we do so. But here is the question: Is Thanksgiving Day a holy day? The answer to that is a resounding no! Man created Thanksgiving Day, not Yahweh! Therefore, Thanksgiving day was not, is not, and will not be a holy day according to Bible. Thanksgiving Day is never a part of the Holy Days of Yahweh! We did not say it, the Bible did answer it in Leviticus!

As the man-made Thanksgiving day approaches, you have to think of the Feast of Tabernacles, and that of other six Holy Days instead (Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Last Great Day/Eight Day). Do all the eating, drinking, and celebrating during those days. Turkey dinners, cranberries, candied yams, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and family gatherings—these things commonly associated with giving thanks. What comes to mind on Thanksgiving Day you do it on the Holy Days instead! Do you sense a time of thankfulness toward Almighty Yahweh for the good things He’s done in your life? Then do it on the Holy Days that He commanded!  Thanksgiving day is under a cloud of media hype, sales pitches, marketing tactics, and blitz commercialism, anyway. That’s why Thanksgiving is so popular to the masses. However, true Christians celebrate the real days of thanksgiving, the Feast of Tabernacles and the other six annual Holy Days! But of course, the act of thanksgiving toward our Creator Yahweh is not limited to only the seven Holy Days. Giving thanks to Him should be done everywhere–everyday–by everyone! Just ponder and consider the many great blessings you enjoy. Be grateful for those wonderful benefits. Realize that these material blessings were not given to us because of anything we have done—we do not deserve them. Be sure to take time to truly thank Yahweh in prayer and thought for the national wealth, power and prestige He has given our nation.  Make certain that you and your family show a thankful attitude toward Him. Be sure to always give a heartfelt thanks to Yahweh in a very sincere manner. As a Father He likes to have good, grateful children.

In closing, genuine Christians observe the Bible holy days in chapter 23 of Leviticus, which were legislated by our Heavenly Father. Yahweh and Yahshua’s true followers eliminate all vestiges of the erroneous doctrines of men from their worship. The pilgrims view themselves as “the Puritans in England.” They regarded themselves as Hebraists. They modeled their principles from the Bible’s Old Testament, yet they forgot to call the Feasts of Yahweh a thanksgiving! And what kind of laws was the United States founded on? It was founded on biblical principles. U.S. President Abraham Lincoln was the one who established the national holiday of Thanksgiving on the last Thursday of November in 1863. As you can read, a man founded and created Thanksgiving Day, not Yahweh! Most people may be surprised to learn about this fact, and many people may actually be offended to read the truth about the Thanksgiving day, but we take that chance because we won’t compromise the truth of the Bible. The Bible tells us, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Again, the Bible says, “Sanctify them by Your truth, Your Word is truth” (John 17:17). Have these Scriptures spoken to your heart? We hope so! Remember that Almighty Father Yahweh speaks with authority with His Covenant Law (His commandments, statues, and judgements). And He commands all His true worshipers worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Why not decide now to observe Yahweh’s scriptural Holy Days and not of man’s holidays? May you be enlightened by this true and faithful message about that day many call Thanksgiving day is not a Holy Day. May the Father in heaven Yahweh bless you and keep you. All these we ask and pray in the name of the coming Savior and King, Yahshua Messiah, Amen. Halleluyah, Shalom!
