The Origin Of The Universe According To Bible

The Biblical Origin Of The Universe

The biblical origin of the universe is the subject of our Bible study. What is the truth about this important topic? Why has evolution become so widely accepted, and why has the Bible come to be viewed with such hostility? What has changed? Over recent decades mankind has spent billions of dollars and untold hours searching for the origin of the universe. What’s driving this desperate search? What do we hope to find? And yes, do we understand what we’re really looking for? Listen! Not understanding the origin of the universe has far-reaching  implications to the people and the world around us. Today, we are going to discuss with you the origin of the universe according to Bible. We’ll let the Bible prove to you that everything in the universe did not happen by chance and that there’s a real purpose in the creation of the universe and man. As always, we’ll let the Bible interpret itself as we humbly ask the Holy Spirit of Yahweh for guidance and wisdom in teaching this to you. May you have the eyes to see and the ears to hear for this true and faithful heavenly message. We pray the truth to sanctify you.

The Bible was commonly accepted as true and as a reliable account of our origins. But now almost the opposite is true. The Bible is banned from classrooms in American schools, and serious discussion of the biblical view of the creation of our universe and our human origins is forbidden! It is a shame that scientists and religious figures alike have perpetuated many myths about the creation of the universe. In the past few centuries, science has refuted some religious notions about nature and the universe that religious leaders mistakenly attributed to the Bible. Sadly, this has caused some religious leaders and institutions to take unnecessarily very dogmatic stands that were only harmful and hurtful in the long run. At the same time, misunderstandings about what the Bible does and does not say have led some on all sides of the debate to accept wrong conclusions! Meanwhile, the many churches, having centuries earlier incorporated very unbiblical Greek philosophical concepts into their views, could not adequately explain and defend aspects of their teachings. They, too, were ultimately sidetracked by their mixing of pagan philosophy with the Bible. Both science and religion built their explanations on very wrong and yes, very unbiblical foundations!

But let us now listen to the testimony of the New Testament. Many passages in the New Testament show us that Yahshua the Messiah and His apostles fully accepted the Genesis account of the creation! Yahshua talked about “the beginning of the creation which Elohim created” (Mark 13:19; Matthew 24:21). He once asked some who questioned Him: “Have you not read that He who made them (Adam and Eve) at the beginning made them male and female?” (Matthew 19:4; Mark 10:6). Later the resurrected Messiah referred to Himself as “the Originator of Elohim’s creation” (Revelation 3:14). Many will be surprised to learn that the Bible reveals Yahshua as the Creator! The apostle John stated at the beginning of his teaching that the divine Word by whom everything exists was the One who became Yahshua Messiah (John 1:1-3, 14). More than once the apostle Paul explained to early Christians that Yahweh created all things by Yahshua Messiah (Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16). Hebrews 1:2 tells us that Yahweh “has in these last days spoken to us by His Son,…through whom also He made the world.” The apostle Paul also told the Athenians that Yahweh made all nations “from one blood” (Acts 17:26)—all are descendants of Adam and Eve. Paul believed all that was written in the Law and the Prophets (Acts 24:14), including the creation accounts. Finally, both the specifics and the tenor of apostle Peter’s last letter tell us that he, too, believed in the biblical creation (2 Peter 3:4-7).

Yes, the Bible laid out the truth long ago! Let us now take a look at a listing of Bible verses to see this. Here is the origin of the universe as described in the Bible:

  • “In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1).
  • “By the word of Yahweh, the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.” (Psalm 33:6).
  •  “Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of Yahweh, for He commanded and they were created. He also established them forever and ever. He made a decree which shall not pass away.” (Psalm 148:4-6).
  • “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. He was in the beginning with Elohim. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (John 1:1-3).
  • “The wrath of Elohim is being revealed from heaven against all the unholiness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about Elohim is plain to them, because Elohim has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world Elohim’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” (Romans 1:18-20).
  • “Elohim, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.” (Hebrews 1:1-2).

The expansion of the universe described in the Bible:

  • “He alone spreads out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea.” (Job 9:8).
  • “Bless Yahweh, O my soul! O Yahweh my Elohim, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty, who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.” (Psalms 104:1-2).
  • “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.” (Isaiah 40:22).
  • “Thus says El Yahweh, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it.” (Isaiah 42:5).
  • “I have made the earth, and created man on it. I—My hands—stretched out the heavens, and all their host I have commanded.” (Isaiah 45:12).
  • “He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens at His discretion.” (Jeremiah 10:12).

The fine-tuning of the universe in the Bible:

  • “Do you know the laws that govern the heavens, and can you make them rule the earth?” (Job 38:33).
  • “O Yahweh, Your word is established in heaven forever. Your faithfulness endures throughout every generation. You set the earth in place, and it continues to stand. All things continue to stand today because of Your regulations, since they are all Your servants.” (Psalm 119:89-91).
  • “Yahweh provides the sun to be a light during the day. He orders the moon and stars to be lights during the night. He stirs up the sea so that its waves roar. His name is Yahweh of host. This is what Yahweh says: “Only if these laws stop working, declares Yahweh, will Israel’s descendants stop being a nation in My presence. This is what Yahweh says: “Only if the heavens could be measured or the foundations of the earth could be searched, would I ever reject all of Israel’s descendants because of everything that they have done, declares Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 31:35-37).
  • “This is what Yahweh says: “Suppose I hadn’t made an arrangement with day and night or made laws for heaven and earth. Then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and of My servant David. I would not let any of David’s descendants rule the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. However, I will restore their fortunes and love them.” (Jeremiah 33:25-26).

In closing, the biblical origin of the universe clearly concludes there is a Creator Yahweh who brought forth this universe from nothing! Thanks to advanced telescopes, some that orbit the earth, and other technological breakthroughs, we have come to three great certainties: 1. the universe had a beginning; 2. it is rapidly expanding; and 3. it is fine-tuned and fit for life! It is not and never a coincidence that the earth is the only habitable planet in the entire universe and that humans are the only peoples or beings in all of the entire galaxy! So where do you go from here? The choice is yours as to how you view the very plain and so very clear evidence that you have just read. As King David said when He prayed to Yahweh, “When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars that You have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?” (Psalm 8:3-4). Yes, David clearly understood that a Supreme Being capable of creating such perfection and splendor must have a great plan and a purpose for us. And indeed Yahweh does! The Father in heaven Yahweh wants to reveal that purpose to you, to show you the way out of the pain and sorrow we have brought on ourselves from rejecting His ways! He offers this incredible invitation: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3). Our loving Father in heaven also said: “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses, He tells us, “Choose life so that you and your descendants may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19). Again, the choice is up to you. It’s time to let go of the meaningless and purposeless moral, emotional and spiritual vacuum offered by the man-made evolution and big bang theories! May Yahweh bless those who are obedient to His words and may He protect those who are faithful to Him. Prayers and blessings to all of the brethren of the same faith. These things we humbly ask and pray to Almighty Yahweh through Yahshua our Savior, Master and King, Amen. Halleluyah, Shalom!
