Pale Horse Of The Apocalypse

We have been examining and sharing with you each of the first four seals of Revelation 6. Each of these seals represents powerful forces that devastate human life on the earth. Today, we are going to talk about the fourth or the pale horse of the apocalypse. The writing of the apostle John in the book of Revelation in Bible tells us this about the fourth seal: “When He (Yahshua) opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see. So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him” (Revelation 6:7-8). What does the fourth, pale horse and its rider, signify? We’ll talk about the fourth horse of Revelation in this series. You really don’t want to miss out on this very important Bible topic. In Savior of mankind Yahshua’s prophecy in the book of Matthew in Bible, He explained that in the wake of religious deception, war and famine would come “pestilences” or disease epidemics (Matthew 24:7). False religion causes instability within relationships leading to war. Famine follows war, and when malnourishment occurs and social systems break down, human beings are more susceptible to disease. There would be other calamities as well. Yahshua the Messiah also listed in Matthew 24:7 “earthquakes in various places.” “Plague” in Bible denotes not only pestilence but also other calamities in nature that Almighty Father in heaven Yahweh uses to correct and punish a disobedient humanity. Of course, any such calamities make populations that much riper for the spread of disease epidemics. And speaking of all four horsemen, the Bible states: “And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth to kill with sword, with hunger, with death and by the beasts of the earth” (Revelation 6:8). Did you grasp the meaning of this? By the time the fourth horseman completes his ride, a fourth of the earth’s inhabitants will experience incredible ruin and utter devastation! The death toll will be unlike any from plague and disease in human history!

To understand how bad it can be, let’s go back and look at some of the great plagues of history. Perhaps the most famous plague in history is the Black Death of the 14th century, thought by most to have been caused by the bubonic plague. Estimates are that more than 20 million people died in the outbreak. The bubonic plague has appeared in more recent times as well. The Great Plague of London in 1664-1665 resulted in more than 70,000 deaths. Also, an outbreak in Canton and Hong Kong in 1894 left 80,000 to 100,000 dead, and within 20 years the disease spread from the southern Chinese ports throughout the whole world, resulting in more than 10 million deaths! The plague came to America from Asia in 1899. The bubonic disease was so lethal toxic that people were known to go to bed well and die before waking! The peoples have died of swelling and internal bleeding and this was spread by contact, while the others have died of germs in the lungs acquired through coughing of infected individuals. There was no known prevention or cure. Whole towns were depopulated. The social structure completely broke down. Parents abandoned children; husbands and wives left each other to die. In many cases no one was around to bury the dead, both from lack of concern and fear of contagion. Tragic, horrific reports of thousands of bodies lying dead in the fields during that catastrophic times!

Furthermore, during World War 2, Japan dropped plague-infested fleas on China. In 1972, stockpiling and use of biological weapons by nations was outlawed. After the first Gulf War in 1991, the nation of Iraq under Saddam Hussein was believed to have developed biological weapons and equipped some warheads with germs to use against the enemies of the former Iraqi president. The location of these weapons since that time is part of the unsolved mystery of that regime. Could some of them be in the hands of terrorists or rogue nations waiting to be used in the future? Meanwhile, the most recent disease fear was Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), which killed hundreds last year. Before that it was AIDS virus, which has killed tens of millions and even today is still decimating the populations of some countries. What is perhaps feared most is a biological attack with smallpox or some other widely communicable germ. Sadly, no nation on earth is adequately prepared for such an attack. In 2001, writer Anthony H. Cordesman at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) examined the security challenges of a biological attack in the United States. The result of that report was truly sobering and you can read about it here. Recently, influenza is making news for getting many people into hospitals for treatments. Influenza is one of the most underrated biomedical hazards today. It’s possible that new super strains of this disease may already be evolving. It takes 8 months or more to create a vaccine once a new strain appears. Reseachers are well aware they cannot stop a pandemic. By the time medical science understand what is happening, it would be too late to spare millions of lives! Tomorrow it could be another, even greater plague to sweep accross the landscape, leaving death and destruction in its path.

Therefore, the antidote to the pale horse of the apocalypse is the one very important thing that you must know and do if you’re to survive the disease carried by the fourth horseman. What is it? Notice! When Yahweh brought the Israelites out of Egypt, He told them: “If you diligently heed the voice of Yahweh your Elohim and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I Am Yahweh who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). However, if they disobeyed and broke the covenant, they could expect disease to afflict them, their families and their nation! “But if you will not obey the voice of Yahweh your Elohim…Yahweh will make the pestilence cling to you until He has consumed you from the land into which you go to possess. Yahweh will smite you with consumption, with fever and inflammation…and the tumors, the scurvy and the itch, from which you cannot be healed. Yahweh will smite you with madness and blindness and dismay of heart” (Deuteronomy 28:15, 21-22, 27-28). The Israelites are also told: “You shall not make idols for yourselves; neither a carved image nor a scared pillar shall you rear for yourselves; nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I Am Yahweh your Elohim” (Leviticus 26:1). Make no mistake that these holy commands are also applicable to all the generations and not only to ancient Israelites!

In closing, when we look at the four seals of Revelation 6, we have to fully understand them in the context of Yahweh’s agelong message to mankind. False religion, war, famine and disease are the results of man’s broken relationship with Him. And when these horsemen make their rides, it will be after repeated warning and pleading from Elohim to turn from sin and live righteously based on His eternal law of love toward Yahweh and man. No human beings knows exactly what lies out there waiting to be used by groups wishing other nations harm. We only know that it could happen. One can only imagine the worldwide impact to come from the culmination of the ride of the pale horseman. The world has only seen relatively mild precursors by far, and the worsts of worsts are yet to come! And why is that? Because the Savior of mankind Yahshua said so in the Bible! Notice what He said: “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places. All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:7-8). Did you grasp it? The modern world is now experiencing only the beginning of troubles and hardships! And there are plenty more ahead in future! The real question is, are you spiritually ready when last days of the four seals of Revelation 6 comes? And most especially so when the day of Yahweh come in the end-times? Again, ask yourselves: are you spiritually ready? And if you’re not, then it’s time that you align yourself with genuine peoples of Yahweh and true teachings of the Bible now! The human race is bound to its Creator in a relationship that will reach a conclusion. All of mankind eventually will (whether we like it or not), come face to face with Almighty Yahweh at the White Throne judgement, and showing to humanity that He is the One Almighty Elohim!
