YHWH, Yahweh

Who Is God And What’s His Name?

Who is God and what’s His name? This question always stir a debate among Christians and non-Christians alike. This question still perplex countless numbers of people in past and present times. You probably want the true answer to this question yourself, don’t you? Today we are going to share with you the answer to this very question using the Bible as our reference and guide for teaching the truth. Why use only the Bible? It is because “All scripture is given by inspiration of Yahweh, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Yahweh may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). This holy message is very dear and important to us that we want you to pay real close attention to this very crucial topic. As always, we ask the power of the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom, as we humbly and earnestly discuss this heavenly kingdom message with you. So without further ado, hear and feel now the pure teaching of the Bible on this matter.

If you want to be someone’s friend, what’s the first thing you usually tell the other person? Your name. Does God have a name? Of course, He does! Yet many religions say His name is God or Lord, but these are not names! They are just titles, like “king” or “president.” God has told us in the Bible that His name is YHWH or Yahweh. Notice! In the book of Psalms, the Bible says: “That they may know that You, whose name alone is Yahweh, Are the Most High over all the earth” (Psalm 83:18). Also, in Revelation, the Bible says: “They sing the song of Moses, the servant of Yahweh, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Yahweh Elohim Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints” (Revelation 15:3). What does the title “the Almighty” mean? It means that Yahweh is more powerful than anyone else in the universe. And the title “King of the saints” means that He is King of all the righteous people. The Bible also teaches that Yahweh is from eternity to eternity! The Bible says: “Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are Yahweh”(Psalm 90:2). Isn’t that amazing! Bible writers used Yahweh’s name thousands of times. Our Father in heaven Yahweh wants you to know His name, say it and to use it. He tells you His real name so that you can become His family.

Many people think that Yahweh doesn’t care about us. They feel that if Yahweh really cared, the world would be very different. We see war, hatred, and misery everywhere. People get sick, they suffer, and they die. Some actually wonder, “If Yahweh cares about us, why doesn’t He stop all this suffering?” There is a very good reason why Yahweh has not yet stopped bad things from happening. You can read about it here. But you can be sure that Yahweh loves us and that He is never to blame for our problems. In fact, He is the only One who can solve them! Religious leaders sometimes make people believe that Yahweh is cruel. Like when something terrible happens, they say that it’s Yahweh’s will. They say that He wanted it to happen. You know what? When they say this, they are really blaming Yahweh! But the Bible teaches that Yahweh is never the source of evil. The apostle James tells us that Yahweh does not test anyone with evil things. Notice! The Bible says: “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by Yahweh;” for Yahweh cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone” (James 1:13). This means that even though Yahweh hasn’t stopped bad things from happening, He never makes them happen! Notice what the Bible says: “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: Far be it from Yahweh to do wickedness, And from the Almighty to commit iniquity. For He repays man according to his work, And makes man to find a reward according to his way. Surely Yahweh will never do wickedly, Nor will the Almighty pervert justice” (Job 34:10-12). So when something bad happens, remember that Yahweh didn’t make it happen! It is very unfair to blame Him. Blame Satan the devil, instead. Why? Because Savior Yahshua said this about Satan: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” (John 10:10). Yes, devil Satan is to blame for bad things!

Furthermore, the Bible teaches us that Yahweh is holy. Notice what the Bible says about Him: “Holy, holy, holy  is Yahweh of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory” (Isaiah 6:3). The apostle John teaches us that Yahweh is love. Notice! “He who does not love does not know Yahweh, for Yahweh is love (1 John 4:8). The Bible teaches that Yahweh loves justice. Notice! The Bible says: “For Yahweh loves justice, And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off” (Psalm 37:28). The Bible teaches us that Yahweh is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love and truth. Notice! The Bible plainly says: “Yahweh, Yahweh Elohim, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth” (Exodus 34:6). The Bible tells us that Yahweh is good and ready to forgive. Notice! The Bible says: “For You, Yahweh, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon you” (Psalm 86:5). The Bible also teaches us that Yahweh is patient and loyal. Notice! The apostle Peter clearly says: “Yahweh is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). The Bible’s book of Revelation says this about Yahweh: “Who shall not fear You, O Yahweh, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgements have been manifested” (Revelation 15:4).

In closing, the Savior of mankind Yahshua said: “Keep on asking, and it will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). Yes, if you keep on seeking, you will find the answers in the Bible. These answers are not too hard to understand. Some people may want you to stop studying the Bible. They may fear that you will change your spiritual outlook when you find the truth. But don’t let anyone stop you from seeking Yahweh’s truth and His love! When you read about Yahweh in the Bible, you get to know Him as a real Person (Psalm 27:4; Romans 1:20). As you learn more about Yahweh, you will love Him more and more and you will feel closer to Him. You will understand that Yahweh is our Father (Matthew 6:9) in heaven. He gave us life, and He also wants us to have the best life possible. That is what a loving Father would want for His children (Psalm 36:9).
