Passover Is The True Biblical Holy Day
Many people have heard that Yahshua Messiah died for our sins, but what does that really mean? Why was His death necessary? What part does Savior Yahshua’s sacrifice play in Almighty Yahweh’s plan for mankind? How is Yahshua Messiah’s death reflected in Yahweh’s holy festivals? Our message today will focus on one of these festivals, Passover, the true biblical holy day that changes the fate of mankind forever! Did you hear about the Passover feast before? Very sadly, this very sacred feast of Almighty Yahweh is rarely taught and practiced in today’s “modern” Christianity. The widely held belief that this holy festival is Jewish is absolutely wrong! The truth is, when we observe this feast, we are celebrating the mission and work of Yahshua, the Savior of mankind! The Almighty Yahweh commanded the Passover feast to be observed by all once every year, and it is key to developing a closer spiritual relationship with Him and His Savior Son Yahshua. You owe it to yourself to know about the Passover festival. We pray that you’ll have the eyes to see and the ears to hear the truth of Scriptures. As always, we will let the Bible interpret itself to us through the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Almighty Yahweh, through His Word, the Bible, has given us seven annual festivals or feasts, on which to worship and honor Him. These sacred festivals, to include Passover, are far more significant than this world’s man-made holidays because they reveal His plan for humanity and the central role Yahshua Messiah plays in every aspect of that plan. It is very sad most people celebrate the Easter or Easter Sunday, thinking this is the holiday almighty Yahweh wants us to observe. Yet you can search through the entire Bible and you’ll find that it doesn’t call for the celebration of the so-called Easter holiday! What the people need and must commemorate is the feast of Passover or Passover festival, the true holy day in the Bible that’s ordained and sanctified by our Father in heaven Yahweh Himself! We won’t be surprised at all if you haven’t heard about this feast because this real holy day appears to be already forgotten by many religious leaders, to include many professing Christians! At this point you may be asking, what is Passover? What does it have to do with you and all of humankind? Prepare to know and let the truth set you free!
The Passover festival shows Yahshua Messiah’s very central role in the process of salvation. It’s very vital that you see this biblical holy day in its proper perspective, meaning, Yahweh’s perspective, not through man’s perspective! That said, Passover (Leviticus 23:5), which falls in the early spring in the Holy Land, is a true reminder of how Almighty Yahweh took the lives of all the firstborn Egyptian males (Exodus 12:7, 26-29) but passed over the Israelites’ homes because they had placed the blood of a sacrificed lamb on their doorposts. The blood of the lamb foreshadowed the sacrifice of Yahshua Messiah, which spares mankind from eternal death. In the New Testament, Christians came to understand that Yahshua is the true Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7). In observing His last Passover with His disciples, Yahshua explained that the symbols of unleavened bread and wine represent His body and blood, offered by Him for the forgiveness of our sins (Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24). The death of Yahshua Messiah then actually took place during the daylight hours that followed, which was still the same date according to Hebrew sunset-to-sunset reckoning. So Yahshua was sacrificed on Passover. Our observance of this annual occasion marking His death (1 Corinthians 11:26) reminds us that eternal life is possible only through Him (John 6:47-54; Acts 4:10-12). His sacrifice of Himself is the starting point for saving mankind and the foundation of the annual feast days that follow.
But how can a true Christian properly commemorate the Passover? It starts off by washing each other’s feet, as Yahshua Messiah commanded (John 13:5-15). By taking the role of a servant, Yahshua called Christians to humility, and gave a reminder of the attitude of loving service that we must have for one another, just as Yahshua Messiah has for us. Next in the Passover observance comes the partaking of the bread. This pictures Yahshua Messiah’s body, which is broken for us (1 Corinthians 11:24). The Bible clearly shows that Yahshua Messiah suffered a horrible beating just before He was crucified: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). So when we eat the broken bread at Passover, we are reaffirming our acceptance of Yahshua Messiah’s broken body for our physical and spiritual healing! Right after the eating of bread comes the partaking of red wine. This symbolizes the shed blood of Yahshua Messiah in full payment for our sins. Therefore, if we have truly repented of our sins and accepted Yahshua Messiah as our Savior, we should have total faith that we have not been “redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Yahshua, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19). We give all power, honor, glory and praise to the Lamb of Yahweh, Yahshua Messiah!
In closing, every true Christian is commanded by Almighty Yahweh and Savior Yahshua to keep the Passover! The eating of bread and drinking of red wine associated with Passover holy day is to be observed only once a year as Yahweh commanded. This sacred festival was obeyed by Almighty Yahweh’s people in the Old Testament and it was taught and practiced by Yahshua Messiah and His disciples in the New Testament. We encourage you to read more about the Passover feast in the following Bible passages: (Matthew 26:2, 17-19; Mark 14:12-16; Luke 2:41-42; 22:1, 7-20; John 2:13,23; 6:4; 13:1-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29). Savior Yahshua’s death, occurring on the Passover day, fulfilled the ritual of the slaughtered lamb, and it opened a new dimension to all of Almighty Yahweh’s biblical feasts. Yahshua the Messiah is the true Passover Lamb “For indeed Yahshua, our Passover, was sacrificed for us” (1 Corinthians 5:7). The Passover festival is still valid today and required to be observed by all people everywhere. It is one of seven annual festivals Almighty Yahweh in heaven had ordained to be holy! The traditional, popular Easter holiday is not Yahweh’s feast! True Christians should never fall for it, as it’s a false substitute, a clever imitation, which can never duplicate Passover! Listen to apostle Paul when He said: “Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth” (1 Corinthians 5:8). Again, Holy Scripture clearly shows Passover is Yahweh’s true biblical holy day that’s so faithfully obeyed and taught by Yahshua Messiah and His disciples! Now that you know the truth, will you obey the Bible, or will you continue to follow the lie? We truly hope and pray that you’re blessed by this true and faithful message. Please share this to others. Shalom and Halleluyah!
