Genuine Baptism Is Required For Salvation

What truly is baptism and why is it required for salvation? People need to be baptized because it is through baptism that we formally make our true commitment to permanently turn away from sins and surrender our lives to Almighty Yahweh. Do you know that baptism goes right to the heart of Yahweh’s forgiveness of our sins and His gift of salvation? Maybe you have already been baptized as a child, or even as an infant. You might not even remember the event. Is your baptism really valid and acceptable in Yahweh’s sight? This is truly a life or death question, because your very salvation depends upon the very answer you make. By using the Bible as the only standard and the premier authority book of our purely Christian preaching and teaching, we will prove to you very clearly that genuine baptism is required for salvation. Our Master Yahshua Messiah instructed His true disciples to continue to baptize the new believers and followers of Yahweh and Himself by saying to them: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20). This is just the beginning, so continue to read on.

Perhaps you might ask yourself, how should a new Christian be baptized in a genuine way or manner? The Greek word “baptizo” is very important in answering this vital question. Understand clearly that baptizo means to “submerge,” to “dip into” or to “immerse.” As it’s written: “Then Savior Yahshua Himself came from Galilee to John the Baptist at the Jordan river, to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and are you coming to me?” But Yahshua Messiah answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. Then Yahshua, when He had been baptized, came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Holy Spirit of Yahweh descending like a dove and alighting upon Him” (Matthew 3:13-16). Notice! Though our Savior and Master Yahshua never sinned and needed no forgiveness, He was baptized to show us the example we should follow! Notice also that He set us an example of how baptism was done by being fully submerged in water in a place where there was “much water” to make genuine baptism possible. Believe in what Yahshua actually taught!

Furthermore, is it ever necessary to rebaptize adults? Yes, the apostle Paul rebaptized people in the name of the Master Yahshua Messiah so they would receive the Holy Spirit. At Ephesus the apostle Paul found some disciples and he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And He said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, Yahshua Messiah. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of Master Yahshua (Acts 19:2-5). Although these people had been immersed by the baptism of John the Baptist, they had not received the Holy Spirit yet (Acts 19:2). Only those who receive Yahweh’s Spirit are the truly converted disciples of Yahshua Messiah (Romans 8:9). Likewise, people who have been baptized who never genuinely understood what sin is or what real repentance entailed would also need to be rebaptized to receive Yahweh’s Spirit and be converted. May the Holy Spirit convict you on this truth!

But you might also ask, what about the children? Should children need to be baptized also? The Bible indicates baptism is for those mature enough to comprehend and believe the meaning of repentance and baptism. Children are not old enough to evaluate why they sin and they simply are not mature enough to understand their own nature and what is wrong with it. The Book of Acts clearly and plainly demonstrated this fact: “But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the Kingdom of Yahweh and the name of Yahshua Messiah, both men and women were baptized. Notice that in this specific example of baptism mentioned in the Bible, we see that those being baptized were old enough and mature enough to comprehensively understand repentance, baptism and the seriousness of their commitment. Nowhere in the Bible you would find children being baptized! Therefore, only those who are truly mature enough to produce the fruits of repentance should be baptized. The fruits of repentance is your very fullest and sincerest acknowledgement that you’re a sinner who sinned against Yahweh, and commit yourself to turn away completely from your past or present sinful life, to become truly faithful and obedient to the Most High Yahweh and His Commandments.

As mentioned earlier, your baptism comes with responsibility. Baptism signifies the end of a life of habitual sinning and the beginning of a new life devoted to righteousness and denying unholiness and worldly lusts. Baptism requires us to live soberly, righteously, and obediently to Yahweh in this present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearance of our Master and Savior Yahshua, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works (Titus 2:11-14). Understand that genuine baptism symbolizes death to sin and life to obedience in Almighty Creator Yahweh. Also understand the death of Yahshua the Messiah had paid the penalty for our sins (Romans 6:23). As the Bible clearly states: “For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him” (2 Timothy 2:11). This is why baptism is so special for genuine Christians because it is a very sacred act that should not be taken for granted or lightly. Understanding Yahweh’s Laws and committing yourself fully to obey those commands is very vital no matter what ill criticism or persecution you have to endure. You must really “count the cost” by asking yourself: “With the help of the Holy Spirit, will you really put Yahweh ahead of family, friends, job, money, fame and social position, or will you be like the hypocrite Pharisees who loved the praise of men more than the praise of Yahweh” (John 12:43)?

Again you must understand that baptism is the death of your old sinful nature as a human being and becoming alive and united with Almighty Yahweh and His Beloved Son Yahshua Messiah. Notice the following Bible passages from the Book of Romans: “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that as just Yahshua Messiah was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life” (Romans 6:4). It continues on to say: “For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin” (Romans 6:5-6). The only genuine or valid version of true baptism is by full immersion into the water. There is no biblical example other than this. Accept no substitute! The Holy Spirit is given through correct water baptism and the laying on of hands by the true and faithful ministers of Almighty Yahweh and Yahshua the Messiah. Do not be deceived! The Bible clearly confirms this sacred truth when the apostles Peter and John laid hands on the believers at Samaria: “Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit” (Acts 8:17).

And finally, as you proceed toward baptism, will you, with Yahweh’s help, dedicate yourself to express total love and loyalty to Yahshua as your Savior, your Master and your coming King? Will you let the Bible guide you to the truth what is required for salvation? These are vital questions that you need to ask yourselves with yes, as your only and final answer. For when you are baptized, you are making a very sacred covenant with your Creator Almighty Yahweh to love, to obey and to serve Him and His Beloved Son Yahshua the Messiah now and forever! It is worth mentioning to you again that you need to have true faith in Yahshua Messiah and His Gospel and to have genuine repentance of your sins before considering yourself getting baptized! We are to repent and be baptized in the name of Yahshua Messiah for the remission of sins to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:37-39). This fundamental instruction from Yahweh’s Word obviously means we are to repent of sin first. What is sin? Sin is breaking Yahweh’s spiritual law, the Ten Commandments! And, contrary to the very clever arguments of many religious leaders, they are not burdensome. Rather, if obeyed, they become the “law of liberty” that would free mankind from war, crime, adultery, broken homes, rebellious children, and a host of other problems, if the Ten Commandments were practiced by all people!

We have given you now, our dear readers, the truth about genuine baptism and it is now up to you to listen and act accordingly upon it. Some of you might still think that baptism is not a big deal and that repenting of sins is merely a one time event. Sadly, many who claim to be Yahshua Messiah’s representatives have trivialized Yahweh’s promises and His purpose. They have offered a cheap grace that costs the believer spiritual emptiness and further away from salvation. They have promised “liberty” by teaching that Yahweh’s Commandments is simply a yoke of bondage and that real obedience to it is unnecessary. We want to pray for them that Yahweh and Yashua open their eyes and ears to the biblical truth. It is very important for you to realize that a repentant sinner can be forgiven, but the sin itself is never acceptable to Almighty Yahweh! Our Creator Yahweh loves you more than you’ll ever know. He let His Beloved Son Yahshua die for your sins and ours! Do not let your unbelief and disobedience disqualify you permanently from salvation and eternal life.
