Yahweh’s Command On Tithing To His People
Did you know that Almighty Yahweh has a financial law called Tithe or Tithing that is applicable to His people or the true Christians today? Do you know the Creator and the Most High Yahweh will bless those who are willing to obey this law in obedience and faith? People should realize tithing teach timeless principles and lessons that is applicable in today’s modern world. This is a law created by Yahweh and not a man-made law people can use and take advantage of to make themselves rich. If you’re seeking the truth you need to understand now Yahweh’s perspective on this very important issue. How many tithes are discussed in the Bible? Let the Bible answer the question and interpret itself for us. Our ministry will help and we will lead you to Yahweh where His Word matter the most.
In the Old Testament the Bible explains that tithes or tenths (Leviticus 27:32) were used for three purposes: to support the Levitical ministry (Numbers 18:21), to provide for Yahweh’s people to observe His commanded festivals (Deuteronomy 14:22-27) and to help the poor (Deuteronomy 14:28-29). Some people have assumed that only one tithe was saved and then divided individually among these three categories, but the Bible’s sacred instructions contradict this assumption. Note (Deuteronomy 14:23) speaks of a person using a 10th (10 percent) of his increase for festivals, and (Deuteronomy 14:28-29) speaks of 10 percent every third year to be used to help those in need. Yahweh’s commandment to tithe is an amazing promise of blessing that Yahweh has made to those who obey Him. In (Malachi 3:10) Yahweh Himself said this: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this,” says Yahweh, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” He also said: “Honor Yahweh with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10) However, it is vitally important to understand that a nation whose people pay tithes, yet continue in Sabbath-breaking, fornication, idolatry, stealing, and other sins, cannot expect all the blessings promised by Yahweh in Malachi 3.
Now the question is if tithing just for the nation of Israel and the Israelites? Don’t forget that Yahweh’s intent is for Israel to be a model for other nations (Deuteronomy 28:1). The apostle Paul explains that all nations will be judged by the same law of Yahweh (Romans 2:6-15). Abraham and Jacob both understood and practiced tithing. Abraham gave a tithe of all the spoils of a rescue mission (Genesis 14:20). As it was with Abraham, Jacob, upon coming to a closer relationship with Yahweh, promised to give Yahweh a tithe of the blessings Yahweh would pour out on him. Is tithing limited only to agricultural products? Abraham recovered people and goods (Genesis 14:6). Of these spoils Abraham gave a tithe “of all” (Genesis 14:20). His tithing was not limited to agricultural products. Ancient Israel also “brought in abundance the firstfruits of grain and wine, oil and honey, and of all the produce of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything.” (2 Chronicles 31:5)
The Bible passages above tells us to honor Yahweh with all our increase (blessing), not just agricultural increase. It is wrong to assume that Yahweh expected only farmers to tithe while excusing everyone else from this very command. Is tithing voluntary? The answer is yes, in the sense that everyone who honors Yahweh obeys His instructions. Yahweh expects His people to tithe and failure to tithe will bring a curse (Malachi 3:8). Yahweh is the Creator of man and all the universe and everything belongs to Him (Psalm 24:1; Haggai 2:8). Yahweh openly reveals the minimum amount we should return to Him from all He gives us through His tithing law. Yahweh has all the right to establish this tithing system of financial support for His Own spiritual purposes. In the New Testament, to clearly magnify this law of tithing, Yahshua the Messiah had said this: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.” (Matthew 23:23). Note in that passage Yahshua the Savior revealed and acknowledged the law of tithing has weight and it needs to be done even today as it also matter to Him.
Meanwhile, it is very concerning and strange that today many church leaders, including television and radio evangelists, seem to teach and preach more of the wealth “gospel” than the true Gospel taught and practiced by Yahshua the Messiah and His disciples! These people are more than willing to ignore many Old Testament laws such as the Fourth Commandment of remembering the Sabbath day to keep it holy and laws regarding clean and unclean meats, but don’t seem quite so eager to let go on the law of tithing in the Bible. You would think that anyone claiming the Old Testament law to have been done away would, for the sake of consistency, place the tithing law alongside dietary and holy day laws. Some church leaders and Bible teachers who preach tithing have no reservations about making great promises on Yahweh’s behalf. These supposedly “Christian” leaders just say to their congregation and the others listening to them to pay tithes and Yahweh will return several times the amount they give. Interestingly, the blessings promised for keeping the seventh-day Sabbath are generally passed over, while the blessings associated with the church tithing are greatly emphasized.
During His ministry on earth more than 2,000 years ago Yahshua the Messiah clearly did not make Himself materially wealthy. Surely, Satan the devil tempted Him and offered earthly richness but Yahshua resisted the temptation and said: “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship Yahweh your Elohim, and Him only you shall serve.” (Matthew 4:10). Again, in (Luke 16:13) Yahshua said: “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve Yahweh and mammon.” (money, material things). Note that Yahshua’s apostles did not make themselves materially wealthy, rather they make themselves spiritually rich. The apostle Peter echoed this truth when a certain lame man asked him and the apostle John for alms, and Peter replied: “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Yahshua Messiah of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” (Acts 3:6)
In conclusion, those desiring to be Yahshua’s disciples shall not expect huge monetary blessings or great material wealth, instead they should expect trials and persecutions, and even martyrdom! We don’t want to disappoint most church leaders and evangelists out there, but no huge mansions, no fancy and expensive cars, and no six or seven-figure income or bank account is important or priority to all Yahweh’s servants or true Christians. As Yahshua the Messiah Himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35). May Yahshua bless all the readers and followers of this ministry to the glory and honor of Almighty Yahweh. Love, peace and mercy be with you all. Halleluyah, praise Yah!
